A man saw a guy with leeches on his neck and said to him: “Hey, you’ve got leeches on your neck and need to get them off.”
The guy with the bloodsucking leeches snapped back: “Who are you to criticize me for having leeches — you should approve of my leeches?”
“I’m just trying to help,” said the first man.
The second guy shot back: “Yeah, yeah, that’s what all narrow-minded people say when they are judging people.”
Perhaps all people have leeches — attitudes and/or behaviors that are sucking the life out of us. Maybe instead of being so defensive and negative towards the people in our lives who love us enough to point out our harmful habits and destructive attitudes; we should thank them for bringing our leeches to our attention and begin to pull our sins out of our life.
To quote Charles Spurgeon: “It does not spoil your happiness to confess your sin. The unhappiness is in not making the confession.” –
Amen, Steve! That hits me right between the eyes for today!!! I found that the bloodsucking leech on me yesterday was myself!!! My anger got the best of me yesterday. Trying to quit smoking took me to a very bad spot as I went off the deep end looking around myself and blaming anyone and everyone for the was I was feeling. Anything that could go wrong, did go wrong…This morning when I prayed, Jesus led me to Romans 1-3. As I read it, conviction came as each chapter came. Woe is me–I am a sinner saved by HIS GRACE and some. There was so much in there that I have to stop and Thank Jesus for his Grace and humble myself before him. Praise be to God for his mercy and for showing me His way.
Wow. Thanks for sharing that, preciouschild. It sounds like you are bouncing back from yesterday. Just don’t give up;. Keep pulling the leeches off. God’s got your back and will come to your rescue!
Hi Steve, I just found my comments section and to reply to them…Thanks for your help.
