For almost 7 years, we at The Salvation Army Berry Street Worship Center in Nashville, TN have (instead of a 1-man sermon) been having participatory, Quaker-style, Sunday morning worship meetings where everyday people show and tell what God has done. We are the only Salvation Army corps (church) I know of that meets like that.
Today I was reading The Salvation Army co-founder’s, Catherine Booth’s, sermon called “Aggressive Christianity” and I came across these words:
“Have meetings like the Friends (Quakers) if you like.”
Wow! How encouraging that our non-traditional meetings were encouraged by Catherine Booth!
If you are in the Nashville area, come visit us and check out the Street-talk @ 225 Berry St., 37207 on Sunday mornings at 10:45 & Tuesday nights at 6:00.
