The work of Christ in one solitary, human heart is invisible. However, when Christ-followers gather together and begin to share from their heart; their words fit together in such a way so as to reveal the living reality of Jesus Christ working in their midst.
That’s why I believe that one of the best and most effective ways a church can minister to people is to create an environment where people can listen to the Spirit and then minister to one another as He leads them.
I woke up this morning with this thought on my mind: “The Holy Spirit is like radar — He shows you things that are unseen.” While I was thinking about that thought, I picked up a book I have been reading, The Philokalia Volume Four, and randomly flipped it open. The first words I saw were: “Your heart, purified by tears, will become receptive to the rays (radar) of the Spirit.” I’ve been shedding tears this week because it looks like my mother is in her final days on earth.
“We look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” –2 Corinthians 4:18

Steve, sorry to hear about your mother. May your friends and family provide you comfort in these difficult days.
Thank you!
