What’s Palm Sunday about? For one thing, it is about a Donkey Rider and participatory, organic church.
The original Palm Sunday was about everyday people speaking out for Christ. It wasn’t about people being quiet and passive spectators. The focus was on the presence of the living Jesus Christ, not on a one-man sermon. Therefore, Palm Sunday is a great day to set aside the weekly message and let ordinary people show and tell what God has done!
WWJD in a 21st Century church service? In the 1st Century, Jesus refused to make His disciples be quiet like the religious leaders wanted, but instead Jesus encouraged them to openly speak out about Him! What will we do tomorrow?
Jesus didn’t want His followers to be quiet! Do we?
–This Palm Sunday do we want people to be quiet and passive in church? Or do we want them to openly show and tell what God has done?
“The whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen: ‘Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in Heaven and glory in the highest!’
Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, ‘Teacher, rebuke your disciples!’
‘I tell you,’ He replied, ‘if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.’” –Luke 19:37-4or0
