When Does Love Win?

Perhaps love doesn’t win with flags, pride, or court decision. So when does love really win? Love wins when I surrender to God’s love by laying down my desires and giving up my will.

I saw this kind of broken, humble love win as the Charleston families of Emanuel AME Church spoke supernatural words of love, forgiveness, and compassion to a man who didn’t just disagree with them, but who revealed real, raw hate by murdering their family members in a failed attempt to start a “race war” in the USA. Only the living God and His amazing grace can give people the miraculous ability to love like that.
–Just like the President sang; God’s grace “saved a wretch like me” and filled me with a deep hunger and thirst to live right, to surrender my wants and wishes to Him, and to daily follow and obey the living, resurrected Jesus Christ.

when love wins

Western culture wants us to be driven and directed by our own desires!
–Christ calls us to be dominated by Divinity!
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” –Paul of Tarsus

Mercy, forgiveness, and grace have no meaning unless we are guilty of moral wrong. Good, morally right people, have no need of those things. As for me, I pray along with the ancient Orthodox monks who continually said: “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!
