If we don’t want to continue to see random mass murders in America, we must stop devaluing human life! Speaking about the need to do something to stop mass killings, President Obama said: “This is something we should politicize. It is relevant to our common life together.” And “This is a political choice we make to allow this to happen every few months in America.” He believes that insufficient gun control devalues human life. I believe that the greater problems are:

Abortion devalues life and declares it to be disposable. A society that supports killing human life in the womb dooms itself to violence and killing everywhere!

Words and images of violence, vulgarity, and disrespect devalue human life. When media continually devalue respect for others, that disrespect will eventually show up in society as anger and then violence.

Making hunting down and killing human beings a recreational activity, devalues human life. A love for killing in cyber space can spill over into real life.

A society that encourages people to “get wasted” devalues human life. If your own life is of no more value that to “waste,” why would you respect anybody else’s life?
