The Steps of The Beatitudes

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.”

We came to realize that without the risen Jesus we can do nothing, and we humbly surrendered our lives to His control.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

We were so sorry for the wrongs we’ve done that we began to turn away from them and to ask for God’s forgiveness, which began to free us from our guilt and shame.

“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.”

We began to allow Jesus to lead us as we followed Him day by day and experienced many of His blessings in our lives.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”

The more we followed Jesus, the more we wanted to get closer to Him and to obey Him in all of our ways. We were filled with peace, joy, and love.

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.”

We began to forgive and to pray for everyone who had in any way wronged us in our lives, and to no longer carry hurt, resentment, or bitterness.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.”

Our hearts began to want only Jesus and He made God become more and more real to us.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”

We began to make peace within our hearts and with all people, to the best of our ability.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.”

We realized that to be criticized or abused, unjustly, because of doing the right thing, is an honor that shows we are learning to follow and obey the risen Jesus.

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!
