The Best Medicine

Daily writing prompt
What makes you laugh?

Keeping my heart uplifted, encouraged, and cheerful fills me with joyful laughter throughout each day. King Solomon said: “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” (Proverbs 17:22) Letting the risen Jesus put His joy inside of me (John 15:11) keeps me smiling and laughing, even in painful circumstances. (Philippians 4:11) Here is the key: “The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them.” (Matthew 21:6) Will you?

Within you
There’s a fight
Out of sight.
Will you live
In darkness
Or in light?
Listen to
Your conscience.
Hear Christ speak
Deep inside.
Set aside
Your desires
And do what
He requires.
Go and do
What He tells
You to do.
Start today.
(Romans 8:14)

Tired of trying to deconstruct your religion? Let the risen Jesus construct a new heart within you. He’s ready whenever you are.

I have no king but the living, resurrected Jesus Christ. My goal is to let Him always reign in my heart, words, and actions. He causes me to live, to laugh, and to sing with joy.

Don’t merely attend a church on Palm Sunday (or once a week). Every day let the risen Jesus triumphally ride into your heart with peace, joy, and holy laughter.

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!
