My morning ritual is to stay in bed for a while and to listen to the risen Jesus as He forms words and thoughts in my mind. Then I get up and spend the next couple of hours writing them down and letting Christ put them together in blog form. The following poem is what I woke up with this morning. This blog post developed from that beginning.
What’s your perception
Of Christ’s resurrection?
Here’s some reflection:
Give Him your affection
And live in connection
With His Holy Presence
And in full subjection
To His inner direction.
So, what’s your perception
Of Christ’s resurrection?
Make your selection:
1____ Mythology: Some people see the Easter tale as a mere myth. They see it as a fictional story that couldn’t have happened in reality. They pin the tale on a bunny that hides eggs.
2____ Religiosity: Many people see the Easter story as an annual religious celebration — as a powerful way to increase church attendance once a year.
3____ Theology: Serious Bible students see the New Testament Easter accounts as a focus of study and mental analysis. They see Easter as a tool of apologetics — as a way to talk people into being Christians.
4____ History: Other people look to Christ’s empty tomb as history. They see His resurrection as something that literally happened about 2,000 years ago. Yet they tend to keep the risen Jesus stuck in and limited to the past.
5____ Victory: A few people embrace, connect with, and follow the living Jesus in their day-to-day life. They continually listen to His inner voice and obey Him moment by moment. They live in the reality of “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” (Colossians 1:27) They testify to and demonstrate the truth that for true Christ followers, “Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.” (1 John 4:4)
Would you like to learn to live in resurrection victory — to live every day like Jesus really is alive? If so, “The Joy of Early Christianity” book will help you. Give it a google.
Live every moment like Jesus is living. He is! Christ the Lord is risen today and tomorrow and forever!
Easter words without the presence of the risen Jesus are powerless chatter. When I was a child a Sunday school teacher asked the class: “If you could meet any person who ever lived who would you want to meet?” The kids were mentioning various dead people. I answered Jesus Christ. The teacher acted like Jesus was just as dead as the others. She didn’t tell us that He is alive and present and that we humans are invited to literally spend time with Him and to get to know Him personally. It was many years later that I finally heard that Jesus lives 24/7/365 and He became my best friend.
The church Easter cycle: One day each year Christians say that Jesus is alive. The rest of the year we live like He is dead and buried.
