The American Declaration Of Independence presents some noble sounding ideas: self-evident truths; “all men are created equal;” we have a Creator; rights are an inalienable, non-material reality. However, if people who were further along in the evolutionary process had written it, American history might be different. The Declaration Of Independence might read something like this:
We hold these relative mental concepts to be self-evident to those endowed with sufficient intellect to understand them; that all men have evolved unequally, that they are endowed by random processes of time and chance with uncertainty and alienation. The rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are high sounding myths naturally selected by materialistic evolution in order to preserve the human species.
Since we humans are nothing but material mechanisms that resulted from random movements of matter and energy, any independence we declare is mere self-deceptive mythology.
With a strong reliance on the protection of scientific theory, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes, and our meaningless existence.
