The Treasure Is Me (And You)

An amazing treasure has been hidden on earth—unrecognized and undiscovered for years. This extraordinary treasure has been confused with the common and the ordinary. THE TREASURE IS ME.

I am a unique person who overcame impossible odds when I first appeared on this planet. Statistically my existence is impossible. But here I am. My very existence declares that I am a magnificent winner. I am an indescribable treasure—full of value. In fact, I am priceless. My worth is infinite.

All the things I see around me—all the things I or anybody else could ever own are worth nothing when compared with my value. From this point on in my life … I will no longer fail to recognize and appreciate the treasure of me. I will take good care of the treasure of me and use it wisely. I will treat myself with all the love and respect due someone of unlimited value! I will avoid self-destruction and turn to self-cultivation.

I will also treasure all the other infinitely valuable human beings on the planet. I will recognize and respect the treasure of them. I will see myself as a statistical miracle living on a planet of other miracles. And I will celebrate my life and the life of others.

Because of my tremendous value, I will value-live. At my conception, my sperm won. I beat the odds. And I will beat any obstacle life may put in my way. I will continue to be a winner my whole life by recognizing and accepting my winning status as the treasure of me.

Nothing can devalue me but my self. Problems, circumstances, other people, economics, even sickness or ultimately death—nothing can devalue me for the treasure of me is more than an accident. As Mother Teresa saw infinite value in the poorest human beings because of Christ, so I can always find value in me. And I will!

Nothing can devalue me and I choose not to devalue myself. I feel good! I celebrate! I love. I serve. I am a part of the most important enterprise in the universe—human life. I am made in the image of God and purchased with the life of God.

What am I worth? I can never describe my value. So instead I will experience it. I will believe it. I will treasure it. I will live it. I will pass it on to others. What an honor I have to be alive. I am grateful for the treasure of me!

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!
