Acting Out Acts — Sound Bites From The First Christians . . .

“Filled with awe . . .”

“Filled with wonder and amazement . . .”

“As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”

“Performing  many signs and wonders among the people.”

“We must obey God rather than human beings.”

“Preached the word wherever they went.”

“Living in the fear of the Lord and encouraged by the Holy Spirit.”

“The Lord’s hand was with them and a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord.”

“Earnestly praying . . .”

“These men who have caused trouble all over the world have now come here.”

“Openly confessed what they had done.”

“Knelt down with all of them and prayed. They all wept . . .”

You have just read a series of sound bites taken from a detailed history book about the first Christians.  It was written by a medical doctor, Dr. Luke, who personally knew many of the first followers of Christ.  It is known as the Book of Acts.  It shows how normal Christians act.

I want to act like an Acts Christian, don’t you!  I meet regularly with a group of people who want to see Acts acted out in the 21st Century.  If that is your desire, come and see our support group style meetings as we seek to recover the Acts lifestyle.

We meet on Sundays at 10:45 am. and Thursdays at 6:30 pm. at 225 Berry St., Nashville, TN, 37207 (corner of Berry & Meridian Streets).

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!
