“You’re a victim of disorganized thinking.” –The Wizard of Oz

Watching The Wizard of Oz in IMAX 3D in 2013, the wizard’s words to the Scarecrow seemed prophetic from this 1939 movie:  “You’re a victim of disorganized thinking.”

Our contemporary culture “is a victim of disorganized thinking.”  “Intellectual freedom” has been pushed to the point of unraveling our philosophical foundations.  Now our society doesn’t have faith to stand on.

* Casting down our conscience has corrupted our contemplation.  We are often confused because we ignore our inner moral guide.

* Muting morality has muddled our mind.   We are mentally mixed us up when it comes to historic moral standards.

* Following feeling has scrambled our focus.   We have lost the realization that facts (such as physiology) are more secure than feelings — that truth is more reliable than desires.

* Denying design has deluded and distracted our deliberation.  We have rejected much of the common sense declarations of nature such as the reality and glory of God.

* Harboring hedonism in our hearts has hindered our objectivity.  We have been seduced into valuing pleasure over principle, consumption over commitment, self-satisfaction over service, entertainment more than ethics.

* Non-stop negativity has numbed our neurons entangling us in the trap of tormenting thoughts.  We have ignored the wisdom (prudently organized thought) of Paul of Tarsus:  “Whatsoever things are true . . . honest . . . just . . . pure . . . lovely . . . of good report, if there be any virtue, if there be any praise, think on these things.”  (Philippians 4:8).

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!
