Worship Wars — Make Room For Sermon-Free Church

Is There Room For Sermon-Free Church?  (Of course there is.)

Worship wars, a popular name for disagreements in church about how to conduct the Sunday service, have been going on for years. But there is no need to argue. There is plenty of room for diverse styles of church meetings. (Some churches even have both contemporary and traditional services.). However, the style of church that has most impacted my life, sermon-free church, is very rare.

In sermon-free church, instead of the same man preaching week after week, everyday people are free, as led by the Spirit, to show and tell what God has done. (My first encounter with the living, resurrected Jesus was in a sermon-free church meeting.) If your church would like to add a sermon-free church service to what you are already doing (traditional and/or contemporary) I’d be glad to help.

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!
