A Bleak (oops I mean Black) Friday Thought:

black friday

We shop for stuff thinking stuff will satisfy the seeking, striving, and searching of our soul. Sadly, surrounded with stuff upon stuff, our soul still starves!

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!

Agreed. Our kids get four gifts
    1) gold gift, a skill or memory that will last forever.
Ex- spending Christmas in the mountains, books

    2) swaddling clothes, they get clothes for their growing bodies

    3) frankensence, something fostering their relationship with God
    Ex- bible, veggietales

    4) myrrh, something temporal and fun
    Ex- Legos, doll, toys
