Church is not about how many people are present . . .
–Church is about how much the presence of God permeates the people who are present!
We have been persuaded that the Gospel is to be primarily preached by a professional person’s proclamations and explanations . . .
–However, Jesus seems to indicate that the Gospel is to be primarily preached by ordinary people showing love for one another. (“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”)
A Wall Street Journal article says that we can change our minds. We don’t have to keep our lives locked up in the same ole same ole!
–If you are bothered by your brain and/or tormented by your thoughts, you can actually change your brain by what you choose to do, what you choose to think, and how you choose to perceive your life! 2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ called this change of mind “repentance.”
–“The mainstream view in neuroscience and medicine today is that the living brain is actually ‘neuroplastic’ — meaning that its ‘circuits’ are constantly changing in response to what we actually do out in the world. As we think, perceive, form memories or learn new skills, the connections between the brain cells also change and strengthen.” –Dr. Norman Doidge, Wall Street Journal, Sat., Feb. 7, 2015.
Perhaps it is time to change the way we think about and the way we do church . . .
