Humility or Human Hotshots? (Who is the celebrity in church?)

God is looking for humility, not human hotshots with big names. “God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.” When we glory in, focus on, and/or follow exalted people, when we attach men’s names to the work of God, we hinder the Holy Spirit.

Christ is the only Christian celebrity! All the rest of us are His servants. It’s time to take men’s names off of Christ’s ministries and out of Christ’s churches! God is searching for the humble. “For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.” You can’t be captivated by a religious celebrity and fully committed to Christ at the same time! “I am the LORD; that is My name! I will not yield My glory to another or My praise to idols.”

“Jesus called them together and said, ‘You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.'” Beware of people who promote their own name and/or allow others to exalt them.

It’s time to turn our attention, our focus, our interest, our desire for approval, our passion, our obedience, our commitment; away from human beings, and put it solidly on the living, resurrected Jesus Christ!

I will not yield My glory

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!
