Do YOU want a living Jesus?

Do we really want a living Jesus? (A real Easter, not just a religious holiday?)
–A living, ever-present Jesus could:
* Interrupt our Sunday morning program with His presence.
* Break out of our religious rules and traditions.
* Tell someone other than the preacher to speak up.
* Confront us with our disobedience and rebellion.
* Make us humble and broken over our secret sins.
* Prompt someone to openly confess a sin.
* Stir up demons.
* Tell us to do something frightening and/or embarrassing.
* Release an overwhelming, holy sense of awe in our midst.
* Make us literally tremble, fall down, weep, and/or rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.
–Do YOU want a living Jesus!

(About an hour after I posted this question: “Do YOU want a living Jesus?” I felt prompted to pick up a book that I bought weeks ago, but haven’t read and I saw this:
–“The life of Jesus Himself powerfully manifested in tn the church. Does that sound appealing to you?” The author then gave 8 characteristics of what would happen “if Jesus began attending your church on a regular basis.) (The book is Revival Or Judgment? Which Will You Choose For Our Country? by Bob Fraley.)

Good Friday was a murderous attempt to stop the direct influence and leadership of the living Jesus. But it failed because He rose on Easter, more powerful than ever.
–Now that Jesus is ever-living and ever-present, do we attempt (in much nicer ways) to stop His direct influence and His active leadership in our churches and in our personal lives?

At The Salvation Army Berry Street, our goal is to surrender to the living, resurrected Jesus and to allow Him to have direct control of our worship meetings.  Come see what amazing things He does every Sunday at 10:45 at 225 Berry St., Nashville, Tennessee 37207.

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!
