Turning Religious Dry Places Into A Spiritual Oasis (Uncapping Wells)

What can turn religious dry places into a spiritual oasis? The flow of the Spirit!

capped well

Is church a life-changing flow or a religious-themed show?
–Have we capped the well of God’s living water — water that could transform our personal deserts into fertile fields? Have we cutoff the flow of God’s Holy Spirit, capping it with our plans, our programs, our presentations, and our performances?
–Pentecost demonstrated that church was intended to be a spiritual flow-time, not a shallow showtime — a time when we gather to allow the members of the body of Christ to be actively “led by the Spirit — stirred by the Spirit — moved by the Spirit!
–Paul of Tarsus put it this way: “When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation.” (1 Corinthians 14:26)
–Perhaps it is time to uncap the church and allow the living water that Jesus predicted to rush over us, wash us, and carry us along; demonstrating that church is not a religious meeting, but a glorious interaction with the living, resurrected Jesus Christ!

“Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” –Jesus Christ (John 4:14)

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!
