Roundabout/round robin meetings are powerful tools for being healed from life wounds, overcoming issues, and experiencing freedom and joy. (Some people call them support groups.)

–The battle between good and evil is not nation against nation or law enforcement against criminals or good people against bad people.
–The battle between good and evil takes place inside every human heart. That battle consists of my conscience against my self-consumed cravings — my need for a relationship with God against my self-driven desire to rebel against God. I have to daily fight to drive evil desires out of the roundabout in my heart and wrongful thoughts, words, and behaviors out of my life.
(“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” –Isaiah, a prophet who lived in the late 8th and early 7th Century BC). Roundabout meetings are spiritual support groups that can help us win battles against the evil in our own hearts and lives.

Contemporary culture is caustic to Christ-likeness. If we are not careful our corrosive culture will cause our trust in God to rust out and leave our faith corroded, deteriorated, and rusted away.  Roundabout church meetings can help us to overcome culture’s corrosive effects by giving us a place to openly love, support, and encourage one another as we battle painful and/or harmful issues in our hearts and lives.

Church in a roundabout way . . .
–Traditionally church has communicated like a one-way street — 1 man speaking and everybody else silently sitting still.
–Perhaps church would be more effective as an interactive roundabout (what we Americans call a traffic circle) — a Spirit-led round robin where pastors are guides on the side (like basketball or football officials); not centers of attention (like campaigning politicians).

Austin, Texas songwriter, Adam Carroll, describes how he uses the roundabout/round robin technique (a songwriters round) in performing and songwriting. Is it time to apply the technique in church meetings?
