–“Dones” have said, “Goodbye, church.”
–“Beyonds” have said, “Hello, ekklesia!”
For those who want to reach the “Nones, the “Dones,” and the “Beyonds:”
–Peter and John, whom the Bible calls “unschooled, ordinary men,” said: “We cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”
–What would happen if our church services allowed ordinary Christ-followers time to do the same thing? Ekklesia would break out and we would see the book of Acts all over again!
–What will happen if we continue to make ordinary people be silent in church? The church will continue to decline and produce more and more “Nones,” “Dones,” and “Beyonds!” (Sociologist Josh Packard uses the terms “church refugees” and “dechurched.”)

Great post. I’m currently in a state of being “done” with the organized church. As it has been reduced to performance and ritual and that is not what Jesus had in mind. We need to step outside of our tents and start doing what He called the “church” to do. Unfortunately, once we get holed up within the walls of a church, we often forget that it isn’t our job to simply protect ourselves and receive healing…it is our job to bring others into that protecting and healing. To do this, we have to be willing to step outside and invite others in. Once we find it, we are to have faith that the door is always open, should we need refuge. But we aren’t meant to hide there. We are meant to go forward and make disciples, but we can’t do that if we are sitting comfortably in our weekly sermons, listening to our favorite songs, praising our worship team and pastor, and failing to recognize whose Spirit it is that dwells within those who are tasked with leading us to Him. We have been stuck on the “What Would Jesus Do” mentality, but we need to ask ourselves, “What did Jesus do?” He didn’t sit in the same service every week waiting for the Spirit to move Him. He moved, He healed, He taught, He sought out those who needed healing. And so should we, as His children. God bless you.
