Why doesn’t church do what the Bible says?

–My “Asking Why?” Question–
The Bible plainly says it . . .
So why won’t we dare to do it?
“When you come together,
Each of you has a hymn,
Or a word of instruction,
A revelation . . .”
“Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.”
So why do we ignore the Bible
And limit speaking in church
To one man in a pulpit?

Most Christians will live their entire lives and never even once experience a worship meeting according to the directions given in 1 Corinthians 14:26 (the original recipe for a Christian worship meeting). Have you ever been in that type of meeting where every person present is free to speak out as they feel moved by the Spirit? It’s sad that so many people miss out on such straight forward and clear Bible teaching!

Let’ go beyond church as usual “when we come together” and begin to experience the God’s power and presence released through ordinary people. Here are two ways you can learn more about doing 1 Corinthians 14:26 in worship meetings:

  1. Visit The Salvation Army Berry Street Worship Center in Nashville, Tennessee, where instead of a one-man sermon, everyday people show and tell what God has done.
  2. Get a copy of the book Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible–Ekklesia available at this link.

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!
