Make Church Ekklesia Again! (1 Corinthians 14:26)
Ekklesia,
It will free ya,
Let you speak out,
Overcome doubt,
Drive away fear,
Bring Christ so near,
Make Christ so dear!
It’s time to make church ekklesia again. (Ekklesia, the lost word of the Bible, is the what Jesus called His body in Matthew 16 when He said: “I will build My ekklesia.” An ekklesia was the city council of a Greek city/state where everyone was equal and anyone could speak out in the meeting. Any such group also needs to discern the gifts given to them – Ephesians 4:11 – so that all things are done decently and in order, for building up the ekklesia – 1 Corinthians 14:26 & 40.
Yes, I agree with L M Yoder with one caveat: Each of those gift ministries must realize where their role is in the body of Christ. To move WITH the Holy Spirit and allow Him to lead the ekklesia. These gift ministries are given as ‘mature’ followers of Christ and in this maturity, no longer have the “need” to lead so much as to use their experience and ‘staff’ to guide the flock. The Holy Spirit must remain the teacher and lead the meetings so that each member will be able to exercise their individual faith and thus grow stronger in their faith unto the mature man having their ‘spiritual muscles’ exercised to the point where they are comfortable with both ‘hearing’ the voice of the Spirit of the Lord and ‘doing’ what He is saying.
Today, many in the church use those gift ministries in the role of “lording over” the rest of the body of Christ. They do not understand their role and are yet not mature enough to walk in their calling and anointing. Many have approved of themselves or let others approve of them and did not wait till the FATHER approved of them. This is nothing more than a continuation of the rebellion of Korah where he and others convinced themselves of their worthiness to lead Israel instead of those God had chosen instead. As a result, those 3 families and the 250 Levites they convinced to rebel against Moses and Aaron, perished as God brought judgment against them.
