Ekklesia has overseerers (like sports referees); not an overlord. (“Guides by the side; not one sage on a big stage.”) Overseers are those who the body recognizes as mature Christ-followers.

The Dones are beginning to clamor for a Jesus-led church. They want to go beyond church glamour and back to the simple Greek New Testament concept of ekklesia based on 1 Coeinthians 14:26!

Overseers don’t use an office, a title, or positional authority, however, the body sees the risen Jesus living in and through them. The New Testament calls them elders. Keeping people quiet in church quarantines them from what God’s doing in each other. Let’s lift the quarantine! “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.”

The Holy Spirit gives us fire & direction; the Bible, instruction & wisdom. We need to be faithful both to the Spirit and to the Bible. As we follow the Spirit, the Bible keeps us faithful to God’s truth revealed in it.
