A Coach And A Critic

Here’s an original poem called A Coach And A Critic.  It was originally published in my bookYour Sperm Won — Experiencing Your Value As A Championship Human Being.

A coach and a critic

Stood side by side,

Watching a contender’s

Every stride

“You won’t make it!”

The critic yelled,

“You’re so bad,

You’ll get nailed!”

“Keep on going!”

The coach replied,

“You’ll win this race.

Don’t be denied!”

Which voice was heard?

I cannot say,

For you run this race

Every day.

Coach or critic?

The voice you choose

Will determine if

You win or lose!

You have what it takes to make yourself an outstanding life! Don’t allow an inner critic to cripple or distract you. Instead, continually listen to your inner coach You can do it! Keep on trying! Victory will come!

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!
