Nobody should have the right to make other people say that wrong is right? Everybody should have the right to believe in right and wrong and to freely express their belief.
However, the right to believe in right and wrong has been under attack for some years. People who maintain a strong belief in the common moral standards shared by most of the cultures in world history are nowadays being labeled as intolerant and judgmental by much of our contemporary media.
People, today, are not satisfied to merely violate moral standards (as people have done through out human history). Now they insist that those standards be made to conform to their behaviors. They demand that their behaviors be accepted, approved, and applauded.
Is this fair? Is it fair to pressure people to violate their conscience? Is it fair to try to push people into approving of behaviors that they sincerely believe are morally wrong? Surely not.
“If anyone will take the trouble to compare the moral teaching of say, the ancient Egyptians, Babylonians, Hindus, Chinese, Greeks, and Romans, what will really strike him will be how very like they are to each other and to our own.” –quotation from C.S. Lewis
You have a right to follow your own conscience and to believe and express what your conscience tells you. You have the right to stand up for the shared moral values of most of humanity. Society has no right to silence you!
Is this fair? And I have to ask, is anything – fair?
I don’t know. This I do know. “As for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord.”
All the rest is up to them and my only responsibility is to be His representative by my actions, 24/7.
And I vividly recall the frustations of life, bG – before God. Then, my eyes and heart were opened to the teachings of His Son – and now, my Lord. The rest became history as written by mankind.
I prefer to live in a word that is more that merely recording history, that is in fact, reflecting His story.
Thanks for being courageous enough to speak up for what you believe in, Sherwood.
