Would you like to see God’s glory in your life and in your church? The key is not a conference or a curriculum, not a program or a performance, not marketing or methods, not a better strategy or harder work. The key is much closer to you than any of that. The key is Christ alive in you (and with you) — the hope of glory. Stir up the gift of Christ inside of you! Stir the cold coals into flame and let Christ burn and blaze brilliantly in your midst.
Ed McMahon used to introduce Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show by saying the words: “And now, hereeeeee’s Johnny!” Perhaps, since Jesus is alive and present when we gather in His name, we should introduce church services by saying: “And now, hereeeeeeeeee’s Jesus!” and then letting Jesus, Himself, direct the meeting.
And now, hereeeeeeee’s Jesus! Right here with me and right there with you! (That’s what the Bible says.) So if Christ is really with us, why don’t we include Him in an active role in our church services and programs? If Christ is really alive and present when we gather in His name, then we should be in for quite the remarkable demonstration of His power and love, every Sunday morning — unless, of course, we make Him step aside before He is finished with His part of the program. may i be honest here? i am one of those silent christians, i think. i used to go to church regularly, even sang in the choirs, participated in bible study groups, but now i hardly attend. i have done a flip flop. now at home, i read my bible more, i talk to god as a friend, instead of just when i think i need something. i feel closer to him now than ever, but i don’t attend church much. maybe i would if i could find one that worshiped God as the almight God. i don’t want to hear about how much money they need, or what trips or contests are going on. i want to praise his name through songs, testimonies, hear words of help needed from others, this would b a wonderful church to me
Terry: It is easy to start a Jesus-led gathering. My wife and i once met for a year in our living room every week with two other couples and let Jesus lead us. We started with a prayer and then each of us did whatever we felt prompted to do — sing a song, read a Scripture, give a testimony, share a short teaching or word of encouragement, confess a sin, pray for someone, etc. It was life-changing. This is Biblical — based on I Corinthians 14:26.
