Do The Math (Meditate On Multiple [7] Math Matters)

When you just can’t seem to figure life out — math might help.  Let’s meaningfully meditate on multiple (7) mathematics matters:

1)  Math wasn’t blown into being by the Big Bang.  It just doesn’t add up that an accidental explosion could produce precise principles, postulates, theorems, and formulas.

2)  Math isn’t a myth, manufactured by the mind of man.  Numerous people have discovered mathematical principles — however, they didn’t invent them.  In fact, in human history, math has frequently divided myth from reality.

3)  Math is not matter (and it’s not an addition to or an appendage to matter).  It is intangible.  You can’t hold math in your hand, or see it with your eyes.  Yet we readily rely on its reality.  Mathematics exists independently of matter.

4)  Math matches reality.  It works.  Mathematics is truth, not fiction.

5)  Math moves us beyond the material to more meaningful matters like mystery and mysticism?  It reveals that life and existence are more than a closed set of numbers, stuck within the confines of the physical universe.

Run the numbers for yourself.  The solution to life is not in stuff.  All your stuff, including your physical existence, can be (and someday will be) taken away.  So what’s left after the great subtraction?  After the hardware of your body is destroyed?

6)  Math demonstrates that there is logic, reason, and intelligence (software) behind the physical universe.  And some of it was downloaded into you.  That download, the non-material aspects of who you are, will carry on when your hardware breaks down and decays.

7)  Math can’t solve life’s biggest problem.  So what happens after the break down of your hardware?  Where will your software go?  Mathematics can’t answer that question.  But you know — deep in your soul.  You know if you are in harmony with or in rebellion against the inventor of math — the one who made your body and soul.

A suggestion on how to be a soul man (or woman):  Take the square route — not the cool one.

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!
