When Hearts Speak

When a mind talks theology, people hear religious ideas.  When hearts speak in the Spirit, people learn love.

A heart burning for God is a gift that is caught in His presence, not something just taught from a pulpit. I caught it when as a college freshman I walked into a Spirit-led, participatory meeting at The University of Tennessee Martin and I’ve never been the same.

Hearts tender and humble before the Lord are like the box of perfume that was poured on Jesus’ feet — they fill the room with a supernatural sweetness that ushers in His presence. I am so blessed to be in the presence of such hearts on Sunday mornings at The Salvation Army Berry Street in Nashville and in one-on-one encounters though out the week.

At Berry Street, everyday people will be speaking from the heart as prompted by the Spirit. It’s a lovely thing!  Come and see for yourself on Sundays at 10:45 am., 225 Berry St., Nashville, Tennessee, 37207

Walking through tall woods recently I saw scattered sunbeams shinning tiny spotlights on the trail, the trees, and other things. When I turn inward and get still and quiet, I see Sonbeams of the living, resurrected Jesus Christ shinning inside of me, pointing out realities that I need, but may not want, to see.

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!
