At The Salvation Army Berry Street we have a different individual (or group) serve as our lead-worshiper (worship leader) each Sunday! The Sons Of Thunder recently led us into the awesome presence of the living, resurrected Jesus! Here’s what the Sons of Thunder wrote about their experience at Berry Street:
“Just like in the first church, the scripture was read, then worship, and most awesome was the Spirit moved and ministered through the whole body, not one man. Jesus is the Senior Pastor at The Salvation Army Berry St Worship Center!” –Sons of Thunder
At Berry Street our purpose is to move beyond having people sit & be lectured and to have them stand & be leaders!
–Historically church meetings have tended to train people to sit silently and be lectured. However, God wants His people trained to stand strongly and be leaders.
–One way that Christ-followers can learn to be leaders is to allow them the freedom in church meetings to obey the nudgings of the Holy Spirit — to give testimonies; to read Scriptures; to say prayers; and to share words of wisdom, words of knowledge, and other gifts of the Spirit.
When the Spirit is allowed to take over a church meeting, there is no “business as usual.” Everything is fresh, new, and exciting (like the Super Bowl)! People are filled with hope, anticipation and awe. A powerful sense of God’s presence pervades the place.
Experience “no goad” Sundays with us at 225 Berry St. Nashville 37207 @ 10:45 am. — where ordinary people show and tell what God has done as led by the Holy Spirit!
