We can meet to hear about the Bible and/or we can meet to do what the Bible says. For example:
“Blessed are the peacemakers . . .” –We can hear a talk about the meaning of the word “peacemakers” and/or we can actually open up in the meeting and make peace with one another.
“Love one another.” –We can sit and be instructed about various aspects of love and/or we can actually stand up in the meeting and show and express love to each other.
“Confess your sins to each other . . .” –We can be informed about the power of confession and/or we can actually speak up in the meeting and confess our wrongful thoughts, words, and actions.
“Fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you . . .” –We can listen to a teaching about getting excited about God and/or we can get ourselves so worked up with love for God that we can’t contain it and we start moving around the room and hugging people.”
“Deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Me.” –We can hear a talk about self-denial and obeying Jesus and/or we can boldly step out of our comfort zone and actually do whatever Jesus tells us to do in the meeting.
“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord.” –We can be in informed about how the ancient Israelies shouted loudly to the Lord and/or we can release a victory shout in the meeting.
“Come unto me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” –We can be taught the meaning of the Greek words for “weary” and “burdened” and/or we can actually come into the presence of the living, resurrected Jesus Christ and together experience His awe-filled rest flood the meeting!
“When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation . . . ” –We can hear a talk about different ways this verse can be interpreted and/or we can open up the meeting and allow anybody present to share as they are prompted by the Holy Spirit.
In the New Testament, church is called a family and an army but somehow it became a primarily a classroom.

3 ways Christ-followers desperately need the Bible!
The Bible in your mind = the wisdom of theology. (Read it — learn it!)
The Bible in your heart = the zeal of spiritual fire. (Let it continually stir your soul!)
The Bible in your lifestyle = the transformation of contagious example. (Radically live it out in everyday life!)
