“This is that,” vs.
“This is what that means.”
–Today preachers like to take a Bible verse and proclaim “This is what that verse means.”
–The early Christ-followers experienced and demonstrated the Bible and then proclaimed: “This is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel.”
–Does your church tell what the Bible means? Or does it demonstrate the Bible in action?
Meetings about God are religion — remembering what God has done in the past.
Meetings with God are resplendent — experiencing what God is doing in the present!
All Christ-followers are called to “This is that” meetings with God!
Pentecost was a “This is that” meeting with God! (See Acts 2.)
Let’s have “This is that” meetings with God when we gather for church!
Experience “This is that” at The Salvation Army Berry Street in Nashville, Tennessee, every Sunday morning at 10:45, 225 Berry St., 37207.
Experience “This is that which was spoken by” Paul of Tarsus; “When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation.”
Experience “This is that which was spoken by” John the Beloved; “As for you, the anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit–just as it has taught you, remain in him.”
Experience “This is that which was spoken by” James the Lord’s brother; “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
Experience “This is that which was spoken by” Jesus; “The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, who the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”
Experience “This is that which was spoken by” Peter; “You believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy.”
Experience “This is that which was spoken by” “a loud voice in Heaven”; “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.”
Experience “This is that which was spoken by” King David; “O taste and see that the Lord is good.”
