Believers love to gather around, listen to, celebrate, and honor preachers and Christian singers; and to make pastors and/or popes the pinnacle of their churches.
–However, perhaps it would be much more powerful and life-changing if we gathered around, listened to, celebrated, honored, followed, and obeyed the living, resurrected Jesus Christ instead!
Who is the proper King in churches — the pastor or Jesus?
–In the Old Testament, when the people of Israel first got their own country, they wanted to have a king. However, God wanted to be their ruler instead. He warned them that a king would be a celebritease–that the king would take their possessions, abuse His power, and make them sorry that they asked for a king. But the people of Israel said: ” “No! We want a king over us. Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us.” (1 Samuel 8)
–In the New Testament, the living, resurrected Jesus Christ is declared to be the King and the “Head of the church.” Have we replaced the Headship of Jesus with the headship of popes and pastors? Have we traded Christ for mere men as the heads (CEOs) of churches?
–Perhaps it is time to let Jesus be the actual Head, the literal King/CEO of our churches (not just the figurehead). How? By laying down our programs and positions, and instead, allowing the living Jesus, Himself, to personally lead and direct church meetings.
Christianity–
Without the active presence
And direct leadership (kingship)
Of the living, resurrected Christ,
Is only left with “ianity.”
Let’s put the living, resurrected Christ back in “ianity.”
