We don’t have to be lost in a lonely crowd — feeling alienated and alone! In this crowded world, we can experience heart-to-heart unity with other people.

One could make the claim that a ball of yarn is an example of unity. Although it is all rolled together in one very long strand, in order to be really united, it needs to be knit together into a sweater, a scarf, a potholder, or something. To move beyond the loneliness of mere togetherness into unity, perhaps Christ-followers need to move beyond passive, formal meetings and verbally open up to one another and to the Spirit, so that God can knit us together into something of His design — an ekklesia.

Togetherness comes from being in the same place at the same time — being physically in the same location with an other person or with other people; being crowded together in a group. Unity, however, is produced by the living, resurrected Jesus Christ knitting human hearts together.

–Catholic & Orthodox church meetings are led by liturgy.
–Protestant church meetings are led by a lecture.
–But what would happen in church meetings if we let the living, resurrected Jesus lead us and knit our hearts together? Love & unity!
