“Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the ekklesias (gatherings of those who are called out to be Christ-followers).” –Jesus (Revelation 2:7,11, & 29.)
According to Jesus:
1) The Holy Spirit speaks to ekklesias.
2) When we come together as an ekklesia we are supposed to hear what the Spirit is saying to us.
So how can we hear what the Spirit is saying. Paul puts it this way: “When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the ekklesia may be built up.” –1 Corinthians 14:26.
Thus, the Spirit speaks to the gathering as ordinary people, one after another, speak and/or do what God puts on their heart. The result is not disorder, but rather a divinely orchestrated time of sharing, teaching, spiritual gifts, and ministry to one another demonstrating the real presence of the living, resurrected Jesus Christ in the midst of the ekklesia.
