Say No to the Thieves of Innocence

Daily writing prompt
How often do you say “no” to things that would interfere with your goals?

Go Beyond the Garden Fall to the Pardon

A glorious garden
Full of fruit-bearing trees
Reveals the way God sees.
The most famous orchard
In the world’s history
Was beautifully ordered,
Created and nurtured
As the home for humans.
The two central fruit trees
Were the tree of life and
That of information
About good and evil.
God told Adam and Eve
To enjoy it all
With just one exception
That twists true perception
With human opinion
Of what’s good and evil.
They chose to ignore God.
Human hearts did harden
In that lovely garden.
Now curiosity
About what is evil
Cuts us humans off from
The fruit of God’s Spirit.
And the tree of His life.
Now innocence is seen
As immaturity
Instead of as it is —
God’s gift of purity
Which comes through Jesus Christ
“The way, the truth, the life.”
Taste and see His goodness.
Leave sin from the garden.
Take Christ’s holy pardon.
(John 14:6 & Psalm 34:8)

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!
