There is so much talk about medication nowadays, especially in TV commercials.  Paid actors and spokespersons boast of the results of the pill they’re promoting.  (Then the voice over announcer quietly sneaks in the side-effects, but that’s another story.)

However, promoting pills without popping them won’t ease your pain.   For medication to work you have to go beyond hearing someone talk about it.  Merely hearing about medication, reading about it, studying it, or even singing about medication, will not help you. 

For medication to be effective you have to receive it into your body.  It has to go all through your whole system.

Here’s how I spell relief:  J-E-S-U-S!  He is the best pain reliever known to man.  “Come unto Me all you who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

However, merely hearing sermons about Jesus, reading about Him, studying Him, or even singing about Him will not help you.  For Jesus to be effective you have to receive Him into your soul.  He has to go all through your system! 

So next time you are hurting, not just in your body, but deep down in your soul, open up, take in, and surrender to Jesus.  One way to get Jesus into your system is to read and obey the New Testament.

When you’re hurting in your heart, there’s no need to take a drug.  Instead, smoke some Matthew.  Snort some Mark.  Pop a hand-full of Luke.  Shoot up some John.  Puff on some Acts. 

Get Jesus all through your system.  Stay high on Jesus 24/7/365.  Paul of Tarsus put it this way:  “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
