Bubba Watson was the surprise winner of the Masters’ Tournament on Easter Sunday. After winning the green jacket, he said: “I’d like to first thank Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior . . .” Just before that moment, his Masters’ speech was interrupted by ESPN, but the news about Bubba glorifying Jesus still got out.
The golf world considers Bubba to be unconventional because he has never had a golf lesson and because he is an outspoken follower of Jesus Christ. To quote Bubba: “The Bible says if you’re trying to be Christ-like, it doesn’t matter what others say, you don’t need to worry about that. I knew if it was God’s plan for me to be on the PGA tour He would help me do it. It’s been working out so far and it will until He has a different plan for me. I just need to believe in Him.”
So W.G.U.T.? (What’s God Up To?) Tim Tebow unexpectedly took the Denver Broncos to the NFL Playoffs, giving God the glory all the way. Then Jeremy Lin comes off the bench to lead the New York Nicks to a series of victories while openly praising God, and now Bubba Watson wins the Masters’.
Is this more than coincidence? Is God speaking to America and the world? (Lin is hugely popular in China.)
Perhaps we should get quiet and listen to the voice of God. He is still speaking and He wants to talk to you! If you are a believer God wants you to follow the examples of these athletes by lovingly, courageously, and openly sharing your faith. Bubba uses Twitter to share His faith, so why don’t you use Twitter, Facebook, and other social media to share yours?
If you are a non-believer, God wants you to personally know Christ and to follow and obey Him every day. It takes lots of courage, but with Christ you can overcome the things that are holding you in bondage and begin to experience joy, forgiveness, peace, and freedom in your life.

Echoing my thoughts exactly! People have left church so God’s meeting them where they’re at – bars, grills and living rooms.
Yes, bxrealx. He’s trying to get our attention.
Don’t forget Trevor Bayne winner of the 2011 Daytona 500 who is an outspoken Christian. I have been noticing this also. We need more roll models like these guys. They also need our prayers.
I haven’t heard about Trevor. Thanks, for sharing, Ann.
