Is Evolution The Solution To How Life Developed?

If you were walking through the woods on a large, uninhabited island and came upon a place where hundreds of apple trees were perfectly arranged in rows exactly 8 feet apart, what would you conclude?

1)  That evolution on the island had progressed to the point that apple trees could plant themselves in rows and keep other species of trees out?  Or . . .

2)  That you had stumbled upon an orchard that must have been planted and maintained by an intelligent being (probably a human or group of humans)?

Would anybody choose answer number 1?  Of course not.  Answer 1 is illogical and irrational.

So if evolution can’t develop apple trees that can plant themselves in their own, well laid out and maintained orchard, why do rational people (sometimes called scientists) boldly proclaim that the entire ecosystem of earth was laid out and maintained by evolution?

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I co-lead a non-traditional expression of the body of Christ in Nashville based on open participation and Spirit-led sharing. We long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia" that is available in Kindle & paperback @

Excellent Question Steve!! more people should be asking the same question

  2. jack says:

Maybe you need to educate yourself on how evolution works, then you would understand why the overwhelming percentage of scientists believe it to be the correct explanation for the diversity of life of Earth.

  3. jack says:

I’m quoting the standard type of response from a young earth creationist. Would you be one of those, or an old earth creationist? How literally do you take the Genesis account of creation?

    • Steve Simms says:

So why do you project “the standard type of response” on to people without even knowing what they believe?

      • jack says:

Fine Steve. I made an assumption about what you believe. So what do you believe about the age of the universe and how it came about?

      • Steve Simms says:

Like finding a large grove of trees perfectly lined up in the middle of a wilderness, I would logically conclude that this didn’t happen naturally, but that a logical being was involved in creating this grove by systematically planting the trees..

As far as when it came about (the date) and how (how the trees were laid out and by whom, etc.) I wouldn’t know.

The same is true for the universe.
