Your heart isn’t a battery
Able to leave the charging station
And pridefully survive
With its own power.
If you want to thrive
And be spiritually alive,
You need to strive
To keep your heart open
To the risen Jesus
And His amazing grace.
Never depart
From your deep need
To continually pray,
“Lord Jesus, fill my heart.”
It’s hard to be
A part-time Christian,
Checking in and out
While being driven about
By our feelings and desires
Unwilling to faithfully do
What God inspires.
When we try to adore
The living Jesus
Through a revolving door
We spin out of His control
And often drop
Our faith on the floor.
