Which author would you love to have dinner with?

Jesus is called “the author and finisher of our faith.” (Hebrews 12:2 KJV) In Revelation 3:20 He says that He is knocking on the door and that if you will hear His voice and open the door, He will come in and have dinner with you. Spiritually dinning with Jesus throughout each day has been the greatest experience of my life. I love to let Him demonstrate His presence, power, and love both within and through me.

Listening to other people testify about what Jesus has shown them, taught them, and done in and through them has greatly strengthened my faith. Hearing how their experiences with Him match my experiences has confirmed and demonstrated to me that what Christ has spoken and done in and through me isn’t just my imagination. It’s really Him!

That’s why I write so much about training and allowing people to open up their heart to God and to one another. That’s why I believe that it takes more than a one-man sermon to make a church come alive in God’s Spirit.

Without living demonstrations of the reality of the risen Jesus, people settle into dry religion. Instead of personally experiencing Christ’s rivers of living water flowing from within and through them, Christians have been trained to simply passively attend a religious program once a week.

Christianity isn’t meant to be a Sunday morning show. It’s supposed to be people whose lives show the presence, power, and love of Jesus. Pulpit and stage are not the hope of glory. “Christ in you” is.

People need to encounter and surrender to God’s presence and anointing. Christianity doesn’t need to be defended by one man in a pulpit. It needs to be demonstrated by everyone who claims to be a believer. “Love your enemies. Bless those who curse you.”

I miss simple “Jesus Music” that flows from a heart overcome by Christ’s love. Sometimes I think that “Contemporary Christian Music” has morphed into little more than Commercialized Christian Music.

What’s A Pulpit For?

I don’t believe that
A pulpit should be
An exclusive place
To only showcase
One man’s ability
To teach and to preach.
Let’s open up the mic
So ordinary
People can speak up
As prompted by God
And experience
How God can use them
To testify and
To teach each other.
