A bored Christian is an oxymoron. Boredom isn’t a fruit of God’s Spirit. It springs from passivity, apathy, and complacency.

There’s nothing boring about genuine Christianity. Boredom comes from quenching God’s Spirit.

Boredom is a sign that you’re, at least for the moment, unaware of or ignoring the present-day reality of the risen Jesus Christ. Keeping your focus always on the presence of “Christ in you, the hope of glory” will keep boredom far from you.

Boredom always disappears when you’re staying aware of the love of God the Father. It can’t harass you when you’re continually listening to and following God the Son. It has no hold on you when you’re being led by God the Holy Spirit both day and night.

When you start to feel bored, do what the Bible says: “Stir up the gift that is within you.” “Rejoice in the Lord, always.” “Pray without ceasing.” “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.” Be “led by the Spirit.” Humble yourself.” “Repent.” “Spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another.” Go help people and actively demonstrate God’s love to them.

Do what Jesus said: “Come unto Me.” “Deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Me.” Then you will leave boredom far behind.

I’m never bored. Through it all, I am standing on, proclaiming, and seeking to obey all I believe that I’ve heard from God. Individuals, churches, and religious organizations have tried to talk me out of it or tone me down, but I can’t help speaking about the things I have seen and heard Jesus say and do.
