How many Bible verses do you see referenced in the following paragraph? In the comments, can you list the book, chapter, and verse for each Scripture reference you see?
The more I have fought my thoughts and sought to have my mind renewed by the gift of God’s higher thoughts, the more I’ve been brought into the awareness of Christ in me, the hope of glory, and the more He has taught me by His Spirit. Jesus, who by His blood on the Cross bought my freedom from the torment of self-destruction, has caught me up and carries me along in a flood of the Holy Spirit, overflowing from within me as rivers of living water, filling my heart with His spiritual fruit and gifts.
When Christianity is trivialized, compromised, intellectualized, systematized, and nationalized it’s no longer the faith described in the Bible. Christ-followers are called to far more than that.
What’s the reason for your hope in Christ? Mine is that Jesus has revealed Himself to me in my heart, changed me from within, and keeps me focused on loving and obeying Him throughout each day. There are logical reasons for believing that Jesus is God in human flesh, who lived, died, and rose again, but logic doesn’t fill my heart with an ongoing hunger and thirst to know Him better and better.
I come boldly before God the Father’s throne of grace not to ask Him questions or to satisfy my curiosity. I come to worship Him in Spirit and in truth. I come to continually surrender my life and my will to Christ, my living, ever-present Lord, and to be led by God the Holy Spirit.
“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,” (1 Peter 3:15)
The god of evolution
Offers no real solution
To what life's truly about.
The intricate cosmic dance
Of a god called time and chance
Leaves life without a purpose.
Religion without passion
Becomes mere formalism.
But Christ living inside me
Gives me inner victory.
