You Can’t Relive Your Life, but You Can Repent

Daily writing prompt
If you could relive one year of your life, which one would it be?

The Road of Repentance

When you walk in the Spirit, God, by His kindness, will lead you down the road of repentance. Day by day and step by step, He will show you thoughts and behaviors in your life that you need to turn away from, people you need to apologize to, ways you need to humble yourself, as well as thoughts and behaviors that you need to add to your life.

Repentance is a lifetime activity, not a once-and-done sorry time. You need to continually realign your heart, your mind, and your lifestyle with God’s will. Be careful that you don’t take a step or a few down the road of repentance and then stop walking in the leading of the Spirit. (Romans 8:14)

The way to truly get spiritually ahead in life is to let the living Jesus be the Head of your life and show you the road to repentance. Let Him be your Lord and your God. Don’t focus on a pastor; keep your focus always on the risen Jesus.

Quit trying to understand God and figure life out. Let your inner eyes gaze on “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Obey Him, not your thoughts, feelings, or desires.

Here’s a better question than “Where do you go to church?” “Where do you participate in church by encouraging people, openly sharing what God puts on your heart, and humbling yourself according to Hebrews 10:24-25, 1 Corinthians 14:26, and 2 Chronicles 7:14?”

Pull the pulpit. Circle the chairs and let the redeemed of the Lord encourage one another!

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!
