A Bouquet of 3 Loves

Jesus told His followers to have a strange bouquet of three loves. As Jesus described them, those three loves are individually rare and seldom seen together as a bouquet. How many of the three do you have?

1) All-out love for God: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” (Matthew 12:30)

2) Neighbor love: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 12:31) Focus on your neighbor’s needs and well being as much as you focus on your own.

3) Enemy love: “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” (Luke 6:27-28)

Love never justifies, excuses, or applauds wrongdoing, self-destruction, impurity, or whatever else the Bible calls sin. It compassionately speaks against those things with mercy, forgiveness, and an invitation to the healing of repentance.

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!
