Experiencing Christ Beyond Religious Legalism

Daily writing prompt
What’s the most underrated life skill?

Studying, analyzing, and trying to explain God’s law doesn’t produce life. The Bible says that it produces death.

Jesus calls us beyond a legalistic approach that tries to understand God, systematize and rationalize theology, and institutionalize faith. Instead, He offers “whosoever will” the opportunity to come and have a never-ending, heart-to-heart relationship with Him.

Jesus wants to give you “peace that passes understanding,” and “joy unspeakable and full of glory.” Are you consistently experiencing those gifts day and night?

Peace that passes understanding is deep, inner tranquility that can’t be explained, analyzed, or figured out. It bypasses the mind and can only be experienced, savored, and enjoyed deep inside your heart.

Joy unspeakable and full of glory is delight that spontaneously flows from God through a human heart. It is so beautiful and pure that no words can explain it.

You can’t simply think your way to genuine, unshakable inner peace and joy. They are produced by humbly and consistently surrendering your thoughts, feelings, and desires to the living Jesus Christ and allowing Him to do His will in and through you throughout each day.

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!
