Living on the Mountain

Daily writing prompt
What’s something you’ve done that your past self would be proud of?

High on a mountain
Watching a city,
Two million people
Down in the valley,
Causes me to see
Very differently.
The higher we go
The closer we get
To God’s point of view.
He wants to show you
Life fresh and made new.

When I have stood on that mountain and looked at that city, I’ve become aware of God’s great love for the people. I’ve prayed for them and felt my own heart fill up with love for them.

Near the end of His physical life on earth, Jesus looked down on Jerusalem and cried (Luke 19:41-44) because the people He loved so much didn’t receive Him. I believe Christ cries today as he knocks on hearts’ doors and people ignore His knocking. (Revelation 3:20)

Open wide the door of your heart and fully surrender your life to the risen Jesus. He will lift you higher than you can imagine. You will see life very differently. You will supernaturally love and have great compassion for all people–even your enemies. (Matthew 5:44)

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!
