About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!

When I first encounter people, I want them to know that I’m open to them and that I’m willing to listen to and encourage them from the mysterious warmth in my heart. When I meet strangers, I often feel a … Continue reading

Try this: … Continue reading

I want to live in a place of heart-felt community

I found “my heart strangely warmed”

The strangest thing I’ve ever found (and kept) was my heart strangely warmed. The same thing happened to a guy named John Wesley in 1738. This is what he wrote in his journal: “In the evening I went very unwillingly … Continue reading

Jesus is the path to joy

The more joy you have from Jesus the less you the less you follow “the pursuit of happiness” anywhere else. God’s Spirit, when welcomed into a human heart, produces joy. When Christianity abandons the living Jesus it becomes joyless and … Continue reading

I skip for joy

Every day I work to skip away. I’m a skipper because I try to opt out of life’s distractions. I love to skip the following things in order to make much room for joy in my life. I strive to … Continue reading

I don’t have a prized possession.

Material things mean very little to me. I’ve never spent very much money on them. I very seldom see a material thing that I want or need. When I do I tend to buy the cheapest version of it. When … Continue reading

Streaming innernet podcasts

I stream uplifting innernet podcasts. There I said it! You may think I’m crazy (or that I don’t know how to spell), but that’s okay. Innernet podcasts are so exciting, empowering, and energizing that your opinion of me is not … Continue reading
