What’s More Exciting Than March Madness?

If you think that the Kentucky & Louisville and the Ohio State & Kansas games in this year’s college basketball Final Four are going to be exciting tomorrow night, here’s some great news for you.

Church can be even more exciting than March Madness when the Holy Spirit is allowed to take over.  I know that traditionally exciting is seldom used to describe church (boringhowever has been frequently used for church).

Perhaps that’s because most people have never experienced a participatory church meeting, where everyday people, rather than passively sitting, are allowed to openly show and tell what God has done.  In this type of church gathering, God’s Holy Spirit takes over and amazing, life-transforming things begin to happen right in front of your eyes.  It is more exciting than the best that the NCAA, the NBA, the NFL, the NHL, the Olympics, and every other sporting event combined have to offer.  Whew!  Now that’s exciting.

Need an example?  If you have ever wondered what motivates Jeremy Lin and Tim Tebow and why their faith is more important to them than their sport, it is personally experiencing the living Jesus Christ.  (Jeremy Lin even wears a bracelet that reads:  “In Jesus’ Name I Play.”)

Don’t take my word for it.  Come and see for yourself.  Experience Spirit-led, participatory church at:  The Salvation Army Berry Street Worship Center, 225 Berry St., Nashville, Tennessee, 37207.  Gatherings:  Participatory Bible study on Sunday mornings @ 9:30 —– Open sharing and testimony worship meeting on Sunday mornings @ 10:45; and Spirit-led prayer meeting on Thursday nights @ 6:30.

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!
