Wow! Earth saw some incredible signs and wonders this week!
* The most powerful religious man on earth had the courage to buck 700 years of tradition and obey God’s leading in his own heart, as he resigned as Pope, acknowledging that God, not a man, owns the church.
* Within a few hours lightning struck St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome (where the Pope ministers), as if God shouted: “Finally a human religious leader is willing to lay down his title, control, and authority, and step aside for Me!”
* Then a huge meteor blew up over the Russian city of Chelyabinsk blasting the windows out all over the town and injuring more than 1,200 people. Had it hit a city (instead of blowing up in the atmosphere), it would have killed tens of thousands of people.
* Just a few hours after the meteor, an asteroid, half the size of a football field, barely missed our planet, coming closer to earth than some of our man-made satellites. Had it hit a populated area of our planet, it could have killed millions.
So what’s going on?
When human leaders surrender control of God’s church to Him, amazing power is released in the spiritual realm. Jesus, Himself, is the head of the church. No human has the right to rule a church, be that a denominational head or a local pastor. Jesus wants to rule His church. Religious/spiritual leaders are merely servants to humbly hear Him and obey His voice; not religious rulers to “lord it over” God’s people and/or feed their own egos. Pope Benedict showed the kind of humility this week that can help release a worldwide move of God if his example is followed by other Christian leaders.
To quote Pope Benedict: “In the decisive moments of our lives, we face a juncture, do we want to follow the ego or God, individual interests or the one who is truly good?”
